Fabrication Technician - Full Time

In this position, the ideal person would care deeply about building quality construction in an offsite fabrication shop. Skills with layout, framing, insulation, air-sealing, warehouse and shop work and safe tool use are integral. In this role you will help us deliver excellent projects to our clients with a joyful, efficient, and safe process of work on site and a high level of quality.

Work closely with fabrication team to bring successful projects to completion on time, on budget, and to high quality standards
Work with all relevant power tools and attend to all associated safety and maintenance protocol
Be on time and dependable for the team
Help maintain the shop, tools and equipment
Interest and drive to understand basics of building science and green building skills with an interest to grow in this area. In-house and external training included with this position
Support and work with the team effectively and contribute to a positive daily culture
Interest in and knowledge of working with locally-sourced wood and other building materials, applied knowledge of high performance building theory and techniques. Experience in straw bale building, clay and lime plasters, and other natural building methods and materials are a plus. Will train.
Lead a small crew to execute specific project tasks, holding responsibility for assuring quality of their work, working with all relevant power tools and attending to all safety and maintenance protocols. Contribute to a positive daily culture, providing on-the-job guidance and training as needed to apprentices
Participate regularly in quarterly All-Company Meetings to help steer direction of our worker-owned cooperative, and act as an active member of the Build Committee
Exhibit strong building science and green building skills with an interest for continued growth in this area (Regular in-house and external training included with this position). Contribute to research & development and innovation of pre-fabricated natural building technologies.

For Fabrication Level I:
Some carpentry experience required (1-2 years experience)
Experience with efficient, production-oriented work
Interest in developing proficiency with all basic hand and power tools commonly used for construction/carpentry/building performance
For Fabrication Level II:
3-6 years carpentry experience
Experience with efficient, production-oriented work
Ability to read plans, do takeoffs, and lead a small group of people on tasks
Proficiency with all basic hand and power tools commonly used for construction/carpentry/building performance
For both:
A strong team player who is focused on the vision and mission of the company
Able to work well independently with appropriate guidance and supervision
Strong communication skills: in person, via phone, and email
Comfortable with cross-cultural communication and an interest in becoming functionally bilingual between Spanish and English
Ability to operate in fast-paced work environments
Ability to track hours on web-based information management systems (training to be provided)

For part-time fabrication technicians:
$20-28/hr depending on experience, with bonus incentives per project based on productivity metrics
Position is temporary, from October 2025-March 2026 with potential to convert to full time
If position converts to full time, the compensation package also includes:
Vision and dental insurance provided, 100% paid by company, and healthcare stipend of $100 per month
Profit sharing at the end of the fiscal year. Amount is based on ownership percentage
AFLAC supplemental coverage (optional, deducted from member’s paycheck if desired)
80 hours of paid time off per year starts accruing immediately (based on 40-hour work week)
40 hours of floating paid Holiday/Wellness time off per year
$200/year for personal tool or tech allowance
Reduced cost cell phone plans available on company AT&T plan, deducted from member’s paycheck
Paid trainings, conferences & classes - minimum value $200 per year; actual value determined on as-needed basis. Full coverage based on first come first serve basis until budget line is tapped for the year
